PNG or SVG with a clear background looks best.

Size & scan strength

For print, pick 1024 px or more. Or use SVG.

Scan strength

Higher strength still scans when the code gets dirty or scratched. It adds more dots.

How it works

How to make a QR code in 3 steps

It takes about a minute. You don’t need an account, and the code is yours to keep.

  1. 01

    Choose what it opens

Pick a tab: link, text, Wi-Fi, Google review or menu. Then type the details.

  2. 02

    Make it yours

Pick your colours, a dot style and a frame. Add your logo in the middle.

  3. 03

    Test, then print

Scan it with your phone camera. If it opens the right thing, download PNG or SVG and print.

For restaurants & cafés

Where a QR code helps your business

Put the right code in the right spot. Each one saves your team a question and your guests a wait.

Menu

QR menu on the table

Guests open your menu on their own phone, in their own language. No waiting for a printed menu.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi by the till

Guests join your Wi-Fi in one scan. Nobody asks your staff for the password again.

Google review

Reviews on the bill

A review code on the bill brings more Google reviews. Ask while the meal is still fresh.

Link

Links on takeaway bags

Link to your website or order page. The next order comes straight to you.

Print it right

A few small checks before you print save you a whole new batch of table cards.

  • Make it big enough

At least 2 × 2 cm on a table card. Go bigger for posters and windows.

  • Dark dots, light back

Dark on light scans best on every phone. Keep strong contrast.

  • Give it space

Leave a clear border around the code. Don’t let text or edges touch it.

  • Keep the logo small

We raise the scan strength for you when you add a logo.

  • Use SVG for print

SVG stays sharp at any size, from stickers to banners.

  • Test on two phones

Scan it with an iPhone and an Android before you print many copies.

Questions

QR code questions, answered

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. It’s free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on scans. Make as many codes as you like, for your restaurant, café or any other use.

Do these QR codes expire?

No. They’re static codes, so the link or text sits inside the code itself. It keeps working for as long as the page it opens is online.

Can I change the link after I print the code?

Not in a static code. So point it to a page you control. A Tabres QR menu is a good fit: you edit the menu any time, and the printed code stays the same.

How do I make a Wi-Fi QR code?

Open the Wi-Fi tab. Type your network name and password, and pick the security type. Guests scan it with their camera and join, with no typing.

How do I make a QR code for Google reviews?

Open the Google review tab and paste your Place ID or your review link. The code opens the review box for your place right away, so guests write a review in seconds.

What size should I print my QR code?

At least 2 × 2 cm on a table card. For posters and windows, go bigger: the code should be about a tenth of the scan distance. Download at 1024 px or more for print.

PNG or SVG, which should I download?

PNG is best for screens, social posts and quick prints. SVG stays sharp at any size, so send it to your printer for menus, stickers and banners.

Can I put my logo in the QR code?

Yes. Upload it in the Logo step. We raise the scan strength for you, so the code still works. Keep the logo small and test the code before you print.

Do you track scans or keep my data?

No. Your code is made right in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us, and we don’t count or follow scans.

What’s the difference between a QR code and a QR menu?

A QR code is only the square you scan. A QR menu is the page it opens. With Tabres you get a free QR menu in many languages, with photos, prices and allergens.

Everything you need to run the restaurant. Nothing to cancel.

Sign-up asks for an email address and a verification code. There is no card capture anywhere in onboarding — nothing to cancel, because there is nothing to start.
