Getting started

Three steps, on any platform.

  1. 1

Install it, or just open it

Open kds.tabres.com on the kitchen screen. There is nothing to install, and it works on hardware you already have.

  2. 2

A manager registers the screen once, at the screen. After that the screen remembers which kitchen it belongs to.

  3. 3

    Start a shift

Each cook starts a shift with a PIN from the branch staff list. To end a shift, tap once and confirm. The screen stays signed in.

Questions

Before you install.

Do I need special kitchen hardware?

No. Tabres KDS works in a browser on a tablet or screen the kitchen already has, and there is no fee per screen. You can use as many screens per kitchen as you want. Each screen is registered on its own and shows only its station.

Can one screen show several branches?

No. A screen belongs to one kitchen. That is what keeps one branch’s orders off another branch’s screen.

Which orders show up on the kitchen screen?

All of them, from one place. Orders a waiter takes on the POS, orders a guest places from the QR menu and online orders all land on the KDS the moment you accept them. Each screen shows only the stations it is registered for, so the grill screen does not fill up with drinks. A new order shows a NEW label for a few seconds, and the timer changes colour: amber after 5 minutes, red and blinking after 8.

What happens if the screen loses connection?

A Live / Reconnecting… label tells the kitchen what it is looking at, and the screen keeps showing the last orders. It cannot move a dish forward until the connection is back. Then it reloads the whole screen and catches up on its own.
